Alternative Dispute Resolution Specialist
Mr. Magate Phala is the Founder and Principal of Magate Phala & Associates and an accomplished Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Specialist with over 20 years of experience in Labour and Employment Law. He is an accredited international civil and commercial mediator with extensive experience in dispute resolution.
His expertise spans both individual and collective labour law. In the field of individual labour law, he specialises in labour and employment law advisory services, workplace investigations, and the chairing of complex disciplinary proceedings involving senior managers and executives. In the collective labour law arena, he advises on collective bargaining, consultation processes, organisational restructuring, and broader employment relations matters.
Mr. Phala currently serves as President of the Gauteng Chapter of the South African Society for Labour Law (SASLAW) and is a member of the Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA) and the Institute of People Management (IPM), and the Labour and Employment Relations Association of Southern Africa (LERASA).
He provides strategic labour law and employment relations advice to organisations in both the public and private sectors and facilitates specialised training programmes on labour law, dispute resolution, and workplace relations. He is also the Founding Director of the Annual Labour Law and Compliance Summit.
A respected labour law practitioner and thought leader, Mr. Phala is a regular speaker and commentator on labour and employment law issues at professional forums and conferences, both nationally and internationally.
